Premature Ejaculation (PE)

premature ejaculation (PE) is the most common sexual problem for men. It is a lack of control over ejaculation so that it often happens sooner than the man or his partner would want. How soon depends on the individual. Some men ejaculate as soon as foreplay starts; others lose control when they try to insert their penis, while some ejaculate very quickly after penetration. Whatever the case, premature ejaculation (PE) can create tension between a man and his partner.

Although both biological and psychological factors likely play a role in most cases of premature ejaculation (PE), experts think a primarily biological cause is more likely if it has been a lifelong problem (primary premature ejaculation). It's possible that your husband's premature ejaculation (PE) has gotten him so down that he's withdrawing from sex. If so, that can be easily remedied. Quite often, when a man gains good ejaculatory control, he suddenly becomes much more interested in sex. And even if he doesn't, it might be nicer for both of you if he lasted longer and avoided premature ejaculation (PE).

Men with premature ejaculation (PE) aren't able to recognise what therapists call the "point of inevitability". This is a sensation that occurs just a few moments before ejaculation. Men who don't suffer from PE are able to recognise this sensation and either stop or change stimulation until the urgency has subsided. Most commonly, men who suffer from premature ejaculation (PE) will have had it throughout their sexual life and won't ever have noticed this "point of inevitability". There are a number of reasons why this might have happened. It may be that initially, sex was always rushed or was associated with feelings of guilt or anxiety.

Over the past few years that I have been evaluating and treating men with impotence and premature ejaculation (PE) (in excess of 3,000 men), we have noticed that men with premature ejaculation have increased sensitivity to vibration in the penis when compared to men without premature ejaculation (PE). It is likely that premature ejaculation, at least in some men, may be due to a combination of hypersensitivity of the penis and hyperspasticity of the pelvic muscles. I should stress, though, that this is my idea and not one that’s been evaluated in controlled trials.
